    What's Happening in Cottage Grove?

    The Cottage Grove Blackberry Pie Society

    Motto: The Cottage Grove Blackberry Pie Society is dedicated to promoting good politics and great people in East Lane County, Oregon and beyond and having fun while doing it while having fun

    The purpose of The Cottage Grove Blackberry Pie Society in general is to undertake

  • political action to promote a progressive agenda of social justice including but not limited to:
  • Preservation of individual freedoms and civil liberties
  • Equal rights for all regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation
  • Preservation of the environment
  • Peaceful resolution of conflict
  • In promoting this agenda before the public eye, we hope to draw together a group of like-minded individuals and to provide camaraderie between such individuals using a program of action and humor, using consensus whenever possible.

    We intend to promote the aforementioned agenda by taking certain specific actions including but not limited to:

    1) Supporting or opposing candidates for public office representing the citizens of East Lane County at the local, county, state and federal levels;

    2) Supporting or opposing other legislation pending or in place which affects the citizens of East Lane County;

    3) Holding elected officials accountable for their actions and recognizing commendable behavior by elected officials when appropriate, through a campaign of local awareness;

    4) Educating and informing the general public about other issues which are pertinent to our agenda.

  • Events:

  • Fridays, from 5 to 6 pm will be our regular Stand for Peace vigils at Opal's Park.
  • Sunday vigils from 6 to 7 pm- These are a silent memorial vigil, after reading the names of the week's soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the names of some of the Iraqis killed in the war.
  • AND we meet the second Monday of every month, 6:30- 8:30pm at Kalapuya Books.

    ksow Cottage Grove Radio

    KSOW is 106.7 FM, Cottage Grove. Created by Cottage Grove area residents to serve our local community. We offer the people of Cottage Grove a medium to address their needs and interests on educational, economic, cultural, social, spiritual and recreational topics, as well as providing an alternative source for a variety of enjoyable music.

    KSOW operates under a low-power frequency modulation (LPFM) license.Ý The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) created this type of radio license in January 2000.Ý Licenses are available to non-commercial educational entities but not to individuals or commercial (for profit) operations.Ý KSOW primarily reaches residents in and around Cottage Grove. We strive to offer our visitors and our community a broader perspective on the experience of life in Cottage Grove.Ý Community radio is designed to benefit the community it serves. KSOW provides media access to residents and organizations outside the scope of commercial broadcasting.ÝÝ

    Ý Programming on KSOW consists of ... performances by local musicians and writers ... school programs ... sports ... local youth performances ... interviews of people of local interest ... programs at local churches and other organizations ... school classroom enrichment ... storytelling for children ... local history ... event announcements and reports ... programs for children of all ages ... fraternity, lodge and club news ... all types of commercially-recorded music.
